University of Chicago, Humanities Division
Software Engineer
Original posting
University of Chicago, Humanities Division | Software Engineer | Chicago or Remote USA | Full Time
The Humanities Division at the University of Chicago is looking for an engineer to build and maintain software for administrative web applications & misc faculty research projects.
We are a small (4-6 people) in-house software and support team that operates the entire stack (from the hardware up) and has long term personal relationships with our users. You'll get to make things that people you know use to make it easier to do their jobs. Because the team is small there is a variety of tasks (security, automated testing & deployment, performance tuning) so you won't be sitting in front of a ticket queue answering the same question all day.
Our stack is presently Ember.js / Ruby on Rails / Postgres / Ansible / Ubuntu and this position would have a significant role in making future choices in technology direction.
This is a full time position with excellent work/life balance (~37.5 hours, Central time zone, 6+ weeks of PTO/holidays). A nearly private office in Chicago is available (not cubicles/open plan) and hybrid or fully remote (USA) options are available.
Application & more details at:
https://hum.uchicago.edu/software-engineer (or search for JR12754 at https://jobopportunities.uchicago.edu) and questions can be sent to my HN username @uchicago.edu
The University of Chicago is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity / Disabled / Veterans Employer.
