You know that NASA mission control room where where a tightly knit team of headset-wearing operators excitedly awaits telemetry from the latest space probe? That's where you'll work in this position! From its perch on the Berkeley hillside overlooking the San Francisco Bay, the SSL Missions Operations center directly operates over half a dozen NASA spacecraft that are actively conducting peaceful scientific research. We're looking for software engineers to develop both ground and flight software for existing and upcoming missions. This software takes a variety of forms and is typically involved with routing and monitoring telemetry, generating commands, scheduling operations, performing encryption / decryption, and more.
* Expect to work closely with a small team of other highly-engaged engineers while enjoying a significant level of autonomy.
* The work environment isn't corporate or startup; it's an independent research lab in a university setting. The engineering work is both interesting and impactful, and there is great appreciation here for engineers who love their craft.
